The Timperley Big Shorts.
Formed in 1990 as a pre match entertainment before an Altrincham home game by the alternative Comedian Chris Sievie, they rose from obscurity to become Manchester Amateur Sunday Football League Champions in 2000.
Great names that have donned the famous red and black over the years include the legendary comedian Frank Sidebottom, Charlie Anderson (Big Viv’s son),
Blane Whiteside (Norman’s son), Rhodri Giggs (Ryan’s brother), Dean Gorre (Feyenoord/Ajax) and a guest appearance once by Ian Astbury.. who remembers him?
So if you are ever up in that neck of the woods, go check ’em out.
